To foster a safe and respectful environment among our students, we've created an online community guideline and terms and conditions that you can follow as we continue to improve our services to provide you with seamless experiences.
Our team has created a concise guideline for you to keep in mind when creating, attending Live events, or connecting with others in communities.
So, what are these Online Community Guidelines?
These community guidelines help us maintain a safe, respectful, and productive environment for members of our community.
- Be respectful: Treat others with kindness, empathy, and respect, regardless of differences in opinions or backgrounds.
- No harassment: We prohibit any form of harassment, hate speech, or bullying.
- No spamming: Do not share irrelevant or excessive self-promotion, advertisements.
- No illegal activity: We prohibit any illegal or unethical activities, including but not limited to copyright infringement and fraud.
- Maintain privacy: Respect the privacy of others and do not share personal information without consent.
- Keep it clean: Avoid explicit or offensive content, including vulgar language and hate speech.
- Be constructive: Provide constructive feedback and criticism in a positive and respectful manner.
- Be open-minded: Be open to new ideas and perspectives and respect the opinions of others.
- No discussions related to politics, sexual orientation, gender, race, or religion: Maintain a safe and respectful environment
Be respectful:
Treat others as you would like to be treated. This guideline encourages individuals to treat others with kindness, empathy, and respect, regardless of differences in opinions or backgrounds. It means that individuals should refrain from making derogatory comments or engaging in aggressive behavior towards others. Unity is one of Mindvalley’s core values, and we uphold this value together as a community. Our meet ups are unique and special due to, but not limited to the deeply respectful way our members treat each other.
No harassment:
This guideline prohibits any form of harassment, hate speech, or bullying. It means that individuals should refrain from making threats, discriminating, or making derogatory remarks towards others based on their race, gender, sexuality, religion, or other personal characteristics. This also means, be respectful and aware of your surroundings and the people in it, for example, we recommend asking ‘do you hug?’ before assuming the other person wishes to hug. Everyone has different feelings and emotions at different times, so we want to respect how they are at this moment.
No spamming:
This guideline discourages individuals from sharing irrelevant or excessive self-promotion, advertisements, or other forms of content that do not add value to the conversation. It means that individuals should avoid bombarding others with unsolicited messages or content. We understand that you business and your goals may be an integral part of your personal story so we do not wish to stop anyone from sharing about their projects and business’s etc, however simply be aware to not push this as a sales pitch towards getting new clients, promotions or sales. If someone is interested in what you do, they can speak to you after the meet up and discuss further. The same applies for you, if you are interested in someone else's offering, you can approach them after and ask if they would like to tell you more.
No illegal activity:
This guideline prohibits any illegal or unethical activities, including but not limited to copyright infringement and fraud. It means that individuals should refrain from engaging in any activities that violate the law or ethical standards. Note our community is global and therefore, laws are not the same everywhere, please be mindful of your location. We as a community are upholding the highest standards of our values, and we intend to leave people and places around us feeling safe and good in our presence.
Maintain privacy:
This guideline encourages individuals to respect the privacy of others and not to share personal information without consent. It means that individuals should avoid sharing sensitive information about others without their explicit permission. As with any good coach or doctor, everything at our events is confidential, unless explicitly stated otherwise. What goes at our meet ups stays at our meet ups. You may of course, share stories and anecdotes about what you learnt or heard, just be sure to not use peoples names and identities.
Keep it clean:
This guideline encourages individuals to avoid explicit or offensive content, including vulgar language and hate speech. It means that individuals should refrain from using offensive language or posting inappropriate content. Curse words are natural in day to day conversations, so no-one is going to stop anyone from saying the odd curse word, however, be mindful to not overuse, or to complain and speak ill of any person, or situation.
Be constructive:
This guideline encourages individuals to provide constructive feedback and criticism in a positive and respectful manner. It means that individuals should provide feedback that is helpful and focuses on improvement rather than being overly critical or hurtful. This is also not a platform for coaching or assuming another person is asking for help or support, it is up to the person to reach out if they want advice, and if you wish to reach out to offer support or someone to talk to, you may, however, always respect their answer if it is a no.
Be open-minded:
This guideline encourages individuals to be open to new ideas and perspectives and respect the opinions of others. It means that individuals should be willing to listen to others and consider different viewpoints, even if they do not agree with them. Everyone has their right to their point of view, so this is not a place to question others choices and beliefs, let people share what they share, and keep your opinions to yourself, and listen with curiosity and an open heart. Unless of course, the meet
up is specifically designed to be a debate or heated topic for the purpose of questioning each other.
No discussions related to politics, sexual orientation, gender, race, or religion:
Unless specifically permitted by the theme of the workshop. While everyone has the right to express their opinions, it is important to maintain a safe and respectful environment. If any conversation regarding these sensitive topics arises, the host should remind the participants that this is not the space for such discussions.
